This course discusses basic philosophies, characteristics, development, and varieties of writing by women in English since the period of 19th century proto-feminist with feminist figures e.g. Mary Wollstonecraft and Kate Chopin, First World feminists, and Third World feminists. This course also discusses the effects of écriture féminine towards writing in general, that attempts to free itself from Eurocentric patriarchal tradition, involving issues namely writing and the body as well as queer writing.
